Eaglecrest Joins the Final Four

Juneau, AK, Dec. 3, 13It started with 64 ski areas across North America, today Eaglecrest Ski Area is in the Final Four of Powder Magazine’s Ski Town Throwdown.

This has been an amazing display of Juneau community pride,” says Sarah Cannard, Eaglecrest Marketing & Event Coordinator. “Eaglecrest Ski Area has some of the best terrain out there – and our local skiers and riders have known it for years.

For two days, Dec. 2 – 3, Eaglecrest fans will be able to support their Juneau ski area once more in the Facebook competition. This round, Eaglecrest will step out as the Great White North Champions.

For the first time in this competition, Eaglecrest voting will be against another U.S. ski town. Mt. Bohemia, Mich. will represent the east coast as the Big East Champions. All previous Eaglecrest competitors are located in British Columbia, Canada.

Powder Editor John Davies has nicknamed Eaglecrest the “Cinderella Story” of this Throwdown. In Round 1, Eaglecrest versus Whistler/Blackcomb Resort, Eaglecrest came out on top by nearly two to one. The next Round against Mount Washington was a much closer match-up, as were Rounds 3 & 4 against Red Mountain Resort and Revelstoke Resort.

We had to get Cinderella out in our Ski Patrol sled, along with the fictitious Juneau Bobsled Captain, Timmy,” says Cannard. “The residents of Juneau know there is no bobsledding here. What we do have is an amazing ski community.”

And the Cinderella Pumpkin Ride continues.
