What is the PNSAA?

The PNSAA began in 1957, when 7 ski area operators, representing 500,000 skier visits, gathered at the home of Webb and Virginia Moffett, former owners of Snoqualmie Pass Ski Area, in Seattle to address solutions to common problems. Today, 34 PNSAA member ski areas -- ranging from Alaska to northern California -- serve more than 5.5 million guests annually.

The Association is involved in a wide range of activities.  The Association's mission is to represent, serve, and advocate the common interests of the membership.  The mission is achieved by pursuit of the following objectives:

  • Building a strong, positive relationship with legislative and regulatory bodies through education, participation, and advocacy.
  • Serving as the public face of the ski industry providing timely and accurate information to the media, governments, communities, and the public.
  • Fostering and promoting growth in the ski industry through support of state-base marketing associations.
  • Providing forums for learning about issues confronting the industry, best practices, and skill development.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with other sectors of the overall winter sports industry, as well as relevant activities of the larger outdoor sports industry.
  • Promoting safety and environmental sustainability as values important to our industry and serving as a catalyst and model for our customers.

Our annual meeting, educational conference, and trade show are held annually in late April.

The following organizations are associate-supplier members of the PNSAA and help support our Association with dues payments and other in-kind support. These entities offer professional services and specialized products at attractive rates and make valuable contributions to the Pacific Northwest snow sports industry.
